Welcoming Summer
We welcome summer this year on Sunday, June 21 at 12:39 p.m! The summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere is the longest day of sunlight of the year.
Remember the story of Persephone? We know since spring, her mother Demeter has been overjoyed with her return to the garden, but now that’s solstice, she’s ensuring all of the flowers and plants are in bloom.
This day also coincides with Father’s Day this year.
Guess we can look at this as a family weekend and what better way to honor that then to have plenty of fresh produce for your feasting activities and wonderful plants for your gardening adventures.
Or at the very least, to take the time to smell the flowers and appreciate the miracle magic of the blossoming of the Earth.
What’s Available This Week
We have had a very luscious week of growing this week’s plants and our produce is becoming more and more plentiful.
Come find us at the garden today and tomorrow from 3 to 6, and Saturday at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) from 8 to 12.
Plants
As we announced earlier this week, we are offering deep discounts on many of our vegetable, flower and herb plants. They can be planted through the end of this month and still have plenty of time to produce well for the season.
Produce & Flowers
This week we have sugar snap peas, loose leaf lettuce, arugula, mesclun, young carrots, Hakurei turnips, and fresh cut flowers. Our cuttings this week include Snap Dragons, Dianthus and Zinnias.
Yours in the Garden,
