On Sunday, February 22 we will publish a new order form for service on Saturday, February 28.

It is going to be very cold this weekend and it is not too late to get in on some of our Valentine’s Day Specials, especially if you plan on spending a cozy weekend at home!

Jams & Jellies

Backyard Jams & Jellies suggests one of their wine jams would make a nice gift and all jams and jellies will come with Valentine fabric tops this week.

Garlic Rosemary Wine Jelly is great on chicken, pork, shrimp or glazed carrots.

And their Roasted Garlic Cabernet Jelly is fantastic on steaks!

Oysters

Fresh oysters, eaten raw from the shell, are a traditional aphrodisiac! (Oh, but you knew that….)

But did you know this purported benefit of eating oysters is not without at least some scientific backing? The amount of zinc in oysters is very high and a deficiency in zinc can cause impotence…So I say, eat oysters! Better safe than sorry.

Chinky Oyster Company goes into the cold water every week to harvest their oysters for us and for the many high-end restaurants they supply. When you get them from us, they are the freshest of the fresh.

Oysters are high in many essential vitamins and minerals including protein, iron, omega 3 fatty acids, calcium, zinc, and vitamin C. Winter is an excellent time to eat raw oysters. The best restaurants on the east coast include Chincotegue oysters on their short list for winter buying.

Dinner for Two

For Valentine’s Day, Patty’s Homemade Gourmet Food is offering a beautifully boxed dinner for two complete with detailed serving instructions. And we have decided to spread the love and cut our original price of $85 for two, to a “SALE” price of $75 for two. (If you have already ordered this dinner, your invoice will be adjusted accordingly!)

• French Onion Soup with Garlic Toast and Gruyere cheese
• Garden salad with her own French vinaigrette
• Entree served with herb roasted fingerling potatoes and ratatouille sides. Entree choice of:
  • six-ounce char-grilled fillet mignon (grilled rare so it can be heated in the oven to desired temperature) or;
  • crab cakes with chili lime aioli.
• Dessert: Beautiful 5″ apple pie, perfect for two.

And what about chocolate?

Old World Breads is offering a delightful Chocolate Mousse this week for Valentines Day, as well as a beautiful Chocolate Pumpernickel Round Loaf.

One final and important note. For those of you requesting delivery, the temperatures will be very very cold Saturday morning. We ask that you leave an empty cooler large enough for your order outside the door (The cooler will actually insulate your order from the cold so that it does not freeze). We are also going to knock and ring your doorbell to let you know we have left your order.
