This is an update on what is available this week, along with gentle reminder the deadline for ordering is Wednesday at noon for our Saturday, February 7 delivery/pickup.
Produce & Artisan Food Update
We still have a good amount of produce. meats, cheese, eggs, and locally prepared artisan foods available, but please note the following changes:
- Chesapeake Organic has sold out this week of spinach, loose leaf lettuce (red & green) and kohlrabi. Fortunately, we have been advised there is now a small quantity of broccoli raab available to order for this Saturday’s delivery / pickup.
- Hattie’s Garden has sold out of arugula. Thank you for those orders! If you’re still looking for fresh arugula, Chesapeake Organic does have some available.
- Old World Breads is offering split pea with ham soup.
Punxsutawney Phil Follow-up
Yes, Punxsutawney Phil did see his shadow early yesterday morning, despite overcast skies, deciding there will be six more weeks of winter.
Was he accurate? Turns out it depends on where you live.
Take a look at this interactive graphic from the Washington Post which the depicts the relationship between Punxsutawney Phil’s predictions and a particular region’s temperature fluctuations during the six weeks after Groundhog Day in each year.
At least we’re not suffering as bad as the Midwest and Northeast, who are not only in a deep-freeze, but dealing with massive snowfall this week.
