On Tuesday May 26, from 3 to 6, Hattie’s Garden will hold a Two for One Plant Sale.

Our final planting of the season is upon us and we must make way in the greenhouse for our new babies! There are lots of wonderfully healthy plants that need to find homes in the soil.

For all plants on sale, buy one and get another one free.

These plants include many hybrid, heirloom and cherry tomato plants, eggplant plants, pepper plants, Profusion Series bedding Zinnias, French Marigolds and more.

In addition to the two-for-one plants, we have some of the peppers many folks have been waiting for; the popular Italian-style Carmen and the juicy red Lipstick. We will also have a new batch of the Jalafeugo Jalapenos, which are the best producing, best tasting Jalapeno we have ever grown.

Additional peppers include the sweet & mild Cubanelle, and the easy to grow & very popular Sweet Banana. I won’t list all of our hot peppers, but there are plenty and now is the time to get heat loving peppers into the ground.

We have four fabulous bell peppers including the very popular Ace, the outstanding Revolution, the Purple Beauty, which starts out as a purple pepper and finally turns to red, and our new Flavorburst, which produces a bountiful harvest of crisp, juicy golden peppers all summer long.

Our unadvertised bell peppers include the nematode-resistant Carolina Wonder and the beautiful lavender Islander.

On Tuesday morning, we will also harvest, wash and cool fresh heads of Jericho romaine lettuce, Red Sails loose leaf lettuce, and Buttercrunch butterhead lettuce, along with a couple other delicious cultivars with which you may be unfamiliar, including delicious Pirat Butterhead and colorful Sweet Valentine romaine.

Our head lettuce is available for a very short time each spring before the weather gets too hot and the lettuce becomes bitter. It is at its peak just now.
