Twas the Night Before
Twas the night before Christmas, here at Hattie’s house.
Everyone felt giddy, even the mouse!
All the orders were filled the day before with care,
With hopes everyone has good food to share.
As we celebrate the holidays, I am struck by how thankful we are at Hattie’s Garden for all of you. With our steadfast and loyal customers, we are able to get through the cold winter months and continue doing what we love during the growing season. We hope you are enjoying your holidays and that we can be some small part in your celebrations and good health.
Your business and support to both Hattie’s Garden, and other local producers is very important for the creation of a local sustainable foodshed on Delmarva. Eating locally grown foods has many benefits for the consumer, the grower, the community and the environment. We can and will reach more and more people with local food, and with important information about nutrition, and the potentials and necessities of sustainability.
The order form for the next pickup / delivery service, scheduled for Saturday, December 30, is now available online. You will find a nice selection of local produce and artisan foods to choose from.
Orders are filled as they are submitted and some items sell out quickly. These items are removed from the order form when sold out, so we encourage you to order as early as possible. We will send out another reminder on Tuesday.
New to the order form this week are eight additional flavors from Backyard Jams and Jellies. These are Peach Raspberry Jam, Crabapple Jelly, Tomato Jam, Apple Grape Jelly, Pear (no sugar), Strawberry Rhubarb (no sugar), Roasted Garlic Cabernet and Sposato Malbec with Roasted Garlic.
We’ve also added an assortment of lip balms and cough syrup remedies from Plant Wisdom Within.
And Black Hog has a new batch of free-range duck eggs.
If any of you are buying meat through Bohemia Lea that you would like to cook next Sunday for New Year’s Eve, please let me know if you would like me to begin the thawing process for you a bit ahead of time.
Yours, wishing you a happy and joyous holiday,
