Springtime Plants
After a long and hard winter, springtime tentatively approaches. Yes!
We certainly have had colder than normal weather this winter and all planting has been delayed by a couple of weeks for most farmers and growers in the area.
But Hattie’s Garden has been busy preparing for the spring of 2014 and we have already begun nurturing our seedlings.
We will offer a variety of plants, for your home garden, including tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, herbs and flowers.
We expect to begin our annual plant sales at Hattie’s Garden the last half of April and continue all spring into June. The plant sales are great times for Hattie to answer your gardening questions.
This year we would like to ask you to reserve plants ahead of time. This is certainly not necessary, and we will have a good number of plants on any plant sale day, but if there is a specific variety that you just MUST have, we will be sure to have it for you. And if there are large quantities of plants you will need, it might be best to let us know in advance. If you can let us know sometime during the last couple of weeks of March, or by the first week of April, by sending an email to reserve your plants, we can plan to accommodate exactly what you need and can tell you just when it will be ready.
Our website has been revamped to include comprehensive descriptions for the plants we plan to have available for purchase.
You will also find an informative Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) section on Hattie’s Plants, with plenty of information on various topics, such as container growing, fertilizing, watering and other useful tidbits. Please take a look!

Heirloom tomatoes are an adventure in gastronomic bliss!
Plants will also be available at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM), beginning on opening day, Saturday, May 10 from 8 to Noon, at the Lewes Historic Society Grounds, located between Second & Third Streets at Shipcarpenter Street in Lewes. (Take a left off of Savannah Road in Lewes onto 3rd street (better parking) or 2nd street and follow until you see the activity!)
