Spring Gardening Class
Hattie’s Garden is excited to be offering a Spring Gardening Class this year. You can register online for the class that will be held over two sessions: Sunday, March 25 and Sunday, April 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. Cost is $100.
The Spring Gardening Class, consisting of two three-hour sessions, is intentionally limited in size in order to provide customized instruction.
It is designed to suit both those who already have experience and those who have none.
Class content
The focus of the class is practical hands-on growing of vegetables, herbs and annual flowers, with a goal for you to create or expand and improve upon a vegetable, herb and annuals garden in whatever space you have available.
The size of your garden can be anything from containers to a small or large plot in your yard. We will discuss organic gardening principles, soil preparation, seeding and transplanting, garden maintenance — including weeding, mulching and pest and disease control, and harvesting and succession planting. You should be eating vegetables from your garden by the beginning of June.
A new focus at Hattie’s Garden is re-mineralization of our soil. We will talk about the importance of minerals and soil testing and the biological health of your soil. There is plenty for everyone to learn, from beginning gardener to more seasoned gardener.
If you are already a gardener, you will come away with plenty of new information and knowledge. If you have never tried to grow vegetables and would like to give it a try, join us for the next class and learn.
Gardening is a wonderful adventure. Welcome aboard.
Yours in the classroom,
