Spring Equinox
See below for revised Garden Class rates.
The Spring Equinox will arrive on Wednesday, March 20 at precisely 5:58 pm.
Also known as the Vernal Equinox, this marks the time when the Sun passes the imaginary line above the equator, known as the celestial equator, and day and night hours are closer to 12 hours each than any other day in the year.
We are excited to experience longer daylight hours as the northern hemisphere is tilting closer to the sun. Longer lasting warm weather isn’t too far away!
Delivery/Pickup Service Schedule
As we move into the busy spring here at Hattie’s Garden, we will slow down our delivery/pickup service until it ends for the season on April 23. We then move full-time into our own growing operation and the Historic Lewes Farmers Market on Saturdays (beginning May 4) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
We hope you will order this week for Saturday, March 23. You may want to stock up a bit ahead as we will not operate our service for Saturday March 30.
Here is the schedule for the next few weeks:
- Saturday, March 23 — Yes! We will offer our service
- Saturday, March 30 — No service
- Saturday, April 6 — Yes! We will offer our service
- Saturday, April 13 — No service
- Saturday, April 23 — Final service for the season
Remember the deadline for ordering is Wednesday at noon for pickup or delivery for your order on Saturday, March 26. We advise you to please place your orders, especially if you are going to want produce items, as soon as possible. Supplies are limited.
Organic Gardening Class Price Drop
The cost has been reduced from $120 to $100 per attendee. In lieu of rent, we are doing some barter with Plant Wisdom Within, so that we can offer the gardening class this year at the former price of $100. For those of you who have already signed up, you will receive a refund.
We will meet twice for two sessions. The first session will be on Sunday, March 31 and the second session will be on Sunday, April 14. The times for both sessions are from 2 to 5.
This enjoyable and extremely useful class will prepare you to grow your own food using simple organic techniques and is suitable for both those of you who already have a vegetable garden as well as those who want to learn.
The class will be limited in size, so please sign up quickly. If we get more requests than we can accommodate, we may be able to add another class.
Plant CSA
Thanks to all of you who are participating in the Plant CSA, we now have our supplies and are in good shape to jump into the growing season.
Although the Plant CSA is closed now for new members, there will be plenty of plants for sale for everyone at Hattie’s Garden beginning the second half of April.
You will receive an email detailing what, when and where as we move forward. In the meantime, please review our Plant section on the website so you can begin your planning.
And Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
Up to our elbows in potting soil,
