Hattie’s Garden delivery/pickup service continues to bring you fresh and wholesome food. We are now taking orders for the Saturday, September 26 Service.
The deadline for placing your order is Tuesday at 8PM. We suggest you place your order as soon as possible to be sure you get what you want, as we do run out of some things.
What’s Available through the Online Order System
The following items are available now to order for pickup or delivery on Saturday, September 26.
Hattie’s Garden has a very good supply of arugula, loose leaf lettuce and mesclun for this week that should not sell out. In addition, we are offering a pound of basil for just $8 so you can make your pesto for the winter. Did you know you can also simply put basil and olive oil in a food processor and blend, then freeze in ice cube trays or in a small loaf pan? You will have nice basil to use for whatever purpose all winter. You can easily cut what you need from a frozen “loaf” as the oil keeps it soft enough to cut right out of the freezer.
Hakurei Turnips are the most delicious vegetable, either raw or cooked. You don’t peel this small white salad turnip and the greens are wonderfully tender and not hairy like many turnip greens. They are sweet and delicious and taste nothing like their purple top cousins.
We have new and abundant batch of green beans coming for this week and we continue to harvest beautiful young ginger and lemongrass.
Dittmar Family Farms has Kennebec and Red Pontiac Potatoes, along with free-range chicken and chicken liver available. Totem Farms has wonderful produce, herbs and microgreens. Fresh Harvest is back this week with butterhead lettuce and arugula.
There’s also delicious free-range chicken eggs from Twin Post, fresh-to-order gourmet food from Nancy’s Cafe, a great assortment of fresh mushrooms from King Mushrooms, Alaska Cod, Alaska Rockfish, Coho and Sockeye Salmonn from AlaskaWild Seafoods, fresh honey from Chrissy’s Bees, and fresh cheese from Chapel’s Country Creamery. Unfortunately, Backyard Jams & Jellies cannot supply us this week because of a “jar” shortage and should be back in business the following week. If you place an order for jam or jelly, we cannot provide the products until Saturday, October 3.
Watch for our email late Monday afternoon / early Tuesday morning for what is available during the week for pickup on Wednesday (September 23) and Thursday (September 24) from 10 to 1. That list differs a bit from our order form list as things change here on a day to day basis.
Yours in the Garden,
