What’s New at Hattie’s Garden
As most of you know, Hattie’s Garden will cease operations as a year-round grower and purveyor of local produce and food at the end of our farmers market season. Many of you have asked where you might find locally produced food during the offseason and beyond. I am asking trusted farmers and vendors to give me information to pass onto you.
Up first! Dittmar Family Farms. Zach and Jenny Dittmar are the co-owner/operators of Dittmar Family Farms in Felton, DE. They are also vendors at both Historic Lewes Farmers Markets. The Dittmars have a regenerative operation, growing specialty fruits and vegetables and raising grass fed beef and lamb. Their primary crops include lettuce, arugula, salad mixes, carrots, beets and radishes. They utilize high tunnels to grow vegetables year-round. You will also find their vegetables and lamb on the menu at high-end local restaurants such as Bramble and Brine, Harbour and Henlopen Oyster House.
Zach and Jenny will be making weekly deliveries in the Lewes and Rehoboth area throughout the winter. There will be a weekly newsletter via email with information on what is being harvested each week so that you can order for pickup in the Lewes area. The pickup location will likely be the Lewes Park and Ride (Next to Lowes). Check out their website and sign up with your email address to receive news and updates.
