Produce, Food & Flowers September 14 & 15
Hattie’s Garden is open on Wednesday, September 14 and Thursday, September 15 from 10 to 4 for the sale of specialty cut-flowers, produce, meat, eggs, cheese, and fish. We will also be at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) located at the George H.P. Smith Park on Saturday from 8 to 12.
Again this week, we will harvest a limited amount of ginger for our Wednesday and Thursday customers. We will also have plenty of delightful pole beans for you. We are growing a yellow wax pole bean and a regular green pole bean. Both are delicious and stringless and harvested at a young age.
Finally, you can still get bulk basil if you email ahead so we can harvest it for you. We will have some ready for casual shopping as well. Pesto is easy to make and a great meal to take out of the freezer all year round. A simple recipe with limited ingredients, there are many versions. A basic pesto is just basil, parmesan cheese, olive oil, pine nuts and garlic. I prefer to roast both the pine nuts and the garlic and to use the best fresh hard parmesan I can find and grate it myself.
