Produce, Flowers & Food: July 11, 12, 13 & 15
Stop by Hattie’s Garden on Tuesday, July 11 from 1 to 4 and Thursday, July 13 from 10 to 4 for the sale of produce, flowers, meat, eggs, cheese, and fish. Please note we are adding Tuesday afternoon to our open hours for local customers to shop at the Garden during this busy season.
You can also find us at the Wednesday Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) from 8 to 11:30, located at the Crooked Hammock Brewery parking lot, and at the Saturday HLFM located at the George H.P. Smith Park on Saturday from 8 to 12. In the event of inclement weather on Saturday, the HLFM will be located at the Lewes Elementary School parking lot at 820 Savannah Road.
What’s Available from Hattie
The following freshly harvested produce will be available at the Garden on Tuesday, July 11 from 1 to 4, Thursday, July 13 from 10 to 4, and at HLFM Markets on Wednesday (8 to 11:30) and Saturday (8 to noon).
- Suhyo Cucumbers — This long, slender Japanese cucumber is mild with few seeds. Sweet crunchy flesh with thin rippled skin that needs no peeling. These cucumbers are a favorite for pickling and salads. Cut the ripe fruit into cubes and add to soup for an interesting and fresh twist.
- Beans — We will have several types of beans this week, although they may be limited depending on how the harvesting goes. These include Fortex Pole Beans, Provider Green Beans and the delicate Haricot Vert in different colors.
- Fresh German Extra-Hardy Hardneck Garlic — Rich garlic flavor with lingering heat. The taste is pungent, but not overpowering. This variety’s very large cloves makes it one of the easiest to peel.
- Fresh Inchelium Softneck Garlic — This garlic is a national taste-test winner in the softneck division. Long lasting mild flavor with just a hint of hot.
- Shishito Peppers — These popular appetizer peppers are mostly a mild chili pepper, with an occasional hotter pepper. Toss in oil and sear in the skillet, then sprinkle with flaky salt.
- Tomatoes — Our tomatoes are just on the cusp of ripening and we may have some ready for you. Come early and get a pint of cherry tomatoes. By the end of the week, maybe even a large tomato!
- Swiss Chard — Tender young bunches. Cooks quickly and is delicious.
- Young Arugula — Triple-washed and bagged.
- Young Mixed Lettuce — Triple-washed and bagged.
- Basil — Beautiful freshly-harvested bunches.
- Fresh-Cut Flower Bouquets — This week we have bouquets with Dahlias, Zinnias, Double-click Cosmos, small nosegays of gorgeous Lisianthus, Yarrow, Celosia and Gomphrena. Each bouquet comes with flower food, and is guaranteed to last at least a week.

- Enoch Farms — Sustainably raised, naturally grown, heritage pork.
- AlaskaWild Seafoods — Flash frozen, wild-caught salmon, rockfish and cod.
- Chapel’s Country Creamery — Farmstead artisan cheese that taste as good as they look. The cows are not given any synthetic growth or production-enhancing hormones, just a lot of love and attention.
- Marble Head Farm — Pasture-raised pork and beef.
- Twin Post Farm — Free-range chicken eggs from Princess Anne County.
- Backyard Jams & Jellies — Dozens of delicious of jams, jellies (including no-sugar options) and chutneys.
Directions to Hattie’s Garden
Hattie’s Garden is located at 31341 Kendale Rd in Lewes approximately 3 miles from Plantation Road (also known as Rt. 1D), coming inland on either Robinsonville Rd. or Beaver Dam Rd (Rt. 23 South).
Kendale Rd. is a short road (0.6 miles) between Robinsonville and Beaver Dam Road. The house is fifth on the left from Beaver Dam Rd, and has a large wooden fence in front of house with purple trim.
Park in the graveled area facing the fence. If you don’t see us, you may toot your horn. We could be processing things in the garage or working outside in the garden.
Reminder that you do not need an appointment. Simply show up during our open hours of operation. We prefer cash or checks, but do have the capability to take credit cards if necessary.
