Plant Sale Friday
The time is nigh. Most of your summer vegetables, herbs and flowers need to get into the ground or into their containers soon. And Hattie’s Garden has great plants for your weekend gardening activities!
We will hold a plant sale on Friday afternoon, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. As always, email Hattie if that doesn’t work and we can make other arrangements with you.
The weather is cooling nicely after a very warm start to the week. We are getting some moisture and the ground is perfect to plant.
Available Plants
You can view the entire list of plants on our website. Below are some highlights:
- Tomatoes – We have a fresh batch of tomato plants, including plenty of cherry tomato plants, hybrids that taste good and grow well, and some of your favorite heirloom tomatoes with flavors that are out of this world.
- Basil – includes Thai Basil, the Genovese type Basils (both Amethyst purple and Dolly green), and two varieties of Thai Holy basil: Nicobar Holy and Samui Holy.
Thai Holy Basil is an entirely different species from the typical basil that most Americans use each summer. This is the basil used in really traditional Thai cooking. Holy Basil has a leaf that stands up to cooking and is a staple for use in cooking meats and seafood.
- Flowers – and don’t forget to get a couple of 4-packs of our beautiful Brocade Marigolds. They are a true French Marigold that will help to repel insects in your vegetable garden. These beautiful bedding plants grow 12-18″ tall and should be given a foot of space to spread. They were gorgeous in Hattie’s Garden last summer.
Available Produce
You can pickup Arugula, Loose Leaf Lettuce and Mesclun at either Hattie’s Garden on Friday afternoon, or at the HLFM on Saturday from 8 a.m. through 12 p.m.
In addition, we should have Spinach, young Swiss Chard, a few Sugar Snap peas and fresh herbs. It won’t be long before we have fresh cut flowers!
