Our Service Continues
Now taking orders for the March 21 Pickup/Delivery service.
Hattie’s Garden will continue with our pickup/delivery service throughout March and into mid-April. We are fortunate to have fresh produce from Chesapeake Organic, Totem Farms and Fresh Harvest, as well as wonderful chicken, seafood, eggs and other artisan food from our other local vendors.
Remember the deadline for ordering is Wednesday at noon for pickup or delivery service for your order on Saturday, March 21. We advise you to please place your orders, especially if you are going to want produce items, as soon as possible. Supplies are limited.
COVID-19 Precautions
In these uncertain times, Hattie’s Garden is here for you. With increasing concerns about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we take your (and our) health and safety very seriously. We are taking precautions to keep things sanitary and to keep everyone safe.
If you are picking up your order at the Garden, we ask you to remain outside, or in your car until the customer before you has made their exit from the garage. The door to the garage will remain open Saturday during the day, so that no one has to touch the doorknob. Hattie will retrieve everyone’s items and set them on the table for you. Checks or cash can be placed in a box and will be disinfected later, or you may pay online for your order. We would prefer you not return bags or egg cartons at this time.
This may all sound like we are going too far, but we do not think so. With dozens of people coming through the garage on a Saturday, we want to do the very best we can at social distancing and keeping surfaces that we touch sanitized.
We encourage everyone to stay healthy, stock up on fresh food and pantry items, and support your local farmers. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to keep our immune systems strong when we need it most.
Gardening Classes Postponed
For those of you who had hoped to participate in our annual gardening classes, unfortunately we are postponing them for the time being. If things settle down, we may conduct the classes in late April or early May. Stay tuned.
CSA Thanks
On a lighter note, we would like to express a big thank you to all of you who are participating in the CSA this year. We had great response to the CSA and are just about able to move through the preparations for our new season with agility!
If you haven’t signed up, there’s still time, but today is the last day to sign up.
You may begin redeeming your CSA credits in May as our flow of produce and plants picks up for the season. We have started lots of babies already and it won’t be long before the entire high tunnel is full of plants. We’ve planted peas, carrots, beets, arugula, lettuce and more out in the garden and also put in some of our earliest flowers.
You will receive an email detailing what, when and where as we move forward. In the meantime, please review our Plant section on the website so you can begin your planning.
Yours in the potting shed,
