Organic Bread, Fruit and Produce
In our effort to provide you with a greater selection of delicious, organic food, Hattie’s Garden is pleased to offer wonderful organic bread, organic navel oranges, organic dried black mission figs and organic Medjool dates.
Our new partnership with Wilder Bread at Greenman in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is very exciting. This community supported micro-bakery only bakes to order. We are able to list several selections of this wonderful organic bread for you. All bread is made using natural leavening (also known as sourdough) and fresh, stone-milled flours with an emphasis on heirloom grains. Simply delicious — place an order today!
We have also branched out to find you more delicious organic fruit and produce, which is listed on the order form under Hattie’s Garden. The California organic navel oranges are very flavorful treasures — organically grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and preservatives. Enjoy them fresh out of the hand, grilled with poultry or fish, mixed in salads, squeezed into juice or used as a garnish.
Considered the diamond of dates, organic Medjool dates are prized for their large size, extraordinary sweetness and chewy texture. Packed full of vitamins, minerals and fiber, the health benefits are remarkable. These fresh dates will keep at room temperature for about 45 days. When stored in the refrigerator, they’re good for up to 6 months. For more information see the Healthline article: Everything You Need to Know About Medjool Dates.
Dried Organic Black Mission Figs have a sweet taste and unique crunchy texture. They are an excellent source of dietary fiber, potassium, calcium, and iron. Enjoy them as a snack or incorporate them into your recipes.
Chesapeake Organic is taking a break this week to allow some growth in their vegetables, but as the days lengthen, we can expect more from them soon. In the meantime, please note Totem Farms and Fresh Harvest has some nice produce items. Our other vendors are busy at work for you and we are all looking forward to the Spring!
Remember the deadline for ordering is Wednesday at noon. Unfortunately, we won’t normally be able to take late requests, as we must place vendor orders quickly.
You will receive an updated reminder on Tuesday, but please order early to be sure you get everything you would like. Supplies are sometimes limited.
Don’t forget to sign up for our CSA to purchase credits for our organically grown plants for your garden. You can also use these credits to buy any of our produce during the growing season! You may join anytime during the month of February. You can read more about it on last week’s post.
