More Seasonable Weather Ahead
We will be open Sunday, May 21 from 11 to 3
We expect more seasonable weather next week. We hope you all made it through the heat wave of this week. During this time, we have been busy at the Garden watering and keeping plants healthy for you and know many of you have held off coming out to get plants in the heat. Thank goodness, it finally looks like we have a nice stretch of “planting” days ahead.
We can be found at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) on Saturday from 8 to 12 located on the grounds of the George H.P. Smith Park located at the corner of Dupont and Johnson Avenues from 8 to 12 with lots of plants and beautiful salad mixes.
In addition we have decided to open on Sunday from 11 to 3 to give you all a chance to get plants while the weather looks perfect for putting them in the ground or in their pots. Please see our plant section for ideas! Hattie’s Garden is located at 31341 Kendale Rd in Lewes
We have more than a dozen herb varieties for your home garden including Dolly Basil (a pretty Genovese type basil) and 12″ long oval herb planters containing beautiful Chives, nice Flat Italian Parsley known as ‘Giant of Italy, English Thyme or Lemon Thyme, culinary tri-colored sage and flavorful Greek Oregano or marjoram.
We also have a nice assortment of hot, sweet and bell pepper plants this week. Hattie can help you pick out your favorite varieties.
The Benary Giant Zinnias are exploding out of the hoophouse and the Profusion Bedding Zinnias are also in abundance.
Finally, we have plenty of vegetable plants, including lots of heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, Asian and Italian eggplant, squash and cucumbers.
Produce
Our produce this week will be Loose Leaf Lettuce, Mesclun and Young Arugula (come early, it won’t last!), as well as some beautiful radishes and scallions.
We look forward to seeing you Saturday or Sunday.
If you have to wait, we have plenty more plants of all kinds coming along for Memorial Day weekend when we will also be open on Sunday.
Yours in the Garden,
