Memorial Day Week
Hattie’s Garden will be open this Thursday and Friday from 10 to 5, and Sunday from 11 to 3.
Just like that Memorial Day weekend is upon us and we are excited to celebrate it this year with another new batch of plants. Let the planting continue and may the growing be abundant this year!
In addition to our extended hours on Thursday, Friday and Sunday at the Garden, we will be at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) on Saturday from 8 to 12 located on the grounds of the George H.P. Smith Park at the corner of Dupont and Johnson Avenues from 8 to 12.
If these times / dates do not work for you, please email Hattie to make arrangements for an appointment. We can accommodate most requests.
Fresh Produce, Herbs and Cut Flowers
We now have enough arugula available for all of our customers as well as beautiful bags of mixed lettuce or mesclun. We have our first cutting of fresh parsley and continue to cut fresh dill, cilantro and mojito mint.
Our beautiful larkspur are blooming. We will be creating bouquets this week from larkspur, bachelor buttons and pink and lavender bell flowers (campanula). All our flower bouquets come with a packet of plant food to help them stay fresh, which should be at least a week.
Plants
We have an absolute abundance of plants that you will love, beginning with a new batch of heirloom, cherry, hybrid, and paste tomatoes that await you.
We also have a nice assortment of hot, sweet and bell pepper plants this week.
We have tall growing, elegant Cosmos, as well as French Marigolds and bedding zinnias of all heights.
We started a fresh batch of pickling cucumber plants, slicing cucumber plants, zucchini and summer squash for you as well.
We’ll have lettuce mix and arugula plants so you can grow your own salad.
Finally, we have over a dozen different herbs and plenty of basil now, including Red Rubin and one called Purple Ruffles that we are trialing. Our Holy Thai basil is also ready. And don’t forget, we have lovely herb planters containing beautiful Chives, nice Flat Italian Parsley known as ‘Giant of Italy, English Thyme or Lemon Thyme, culinary tri-colored sage and flavorful Greek Oregano or marjoram.
We do bring as many plants as possible to the HLFM, but you will find a more comprehensive selection at the Garden on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Have a great and safe weekend. Yours in the Garden,
