Memorial Day Monday
Head over to Hattie’s Garden today from 10 to 1 today, Memorial Day, for plants for your garden. You can also email Hattie to make other arrangements if the plant sale time-frame is not convenient.
What’s Available
If there is a specific plant you need that is not listed, Hattie can tell you whether it will be available next week. The following is available today.
- Tomatoes include great tasting hybrid varieties of Big Beef, Celebrity and New Girl; easy to grow, fool-proof cherry tomato: SuperSweet 100; heirloom varieties of Black Krim and Pruden’s Purple; and a couple of nice paste tomatoes.
- Herbs include spectacular French tarragon, Rosemary Arp, and many basil varieties such as Dolly Basil and Italian Large Leaf (both are nice Genovese types), Sweet Dani lemon basil and, Amethyst (a stunning purple Genovese), Thai sweet basil, and Thai holy basil in green and red.
- Flowers include Tall Blue Planet Ageratum (pictured), a true cutting variety of ageratum. Their height makes them a superb border plant, and an excellent addition to mixed bouquets. We also have gorgeous Benary Giant Zinnias which top out above 4 feet tall and Brocade French Marigolds that are familiar to many for their insect repelling qualities in the garden. This variety grow 12-18″ tall and fills in very nicely. Additionally, we have some nice tall cosmos, both fluted and regular; and the drought-tolerant, QIS Purple Gomphrena, which grow two feet tall.
- Peppers and Eggplants are looking beautiful, but growing slowly with these cool nights. We have a few ready today.
