May 2 Plant Sale
It is finally time to get growing! The weather finally looks much better now and everyone we know after this cold extended winter weather is chomping at the bit, eager to burst with spring fever, and ready to go out into the garden to start making the most of spring.
On Saturday, May 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., we will hold a Plant Sale at the Garden. Those with CSA Plant Credits are invited to come from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for first choice if they wish. As always, email Hattie if that doesn’t work and we can make other arrangements with you.
We will offer a variety of plants, for your home garden, including tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, herbs, cucumbers, squash, lettuce and flowers.
Tomatoes
At Hattie’s Garden, we love tomatoes and we will have 23 different varieties available for this Saturday! Even though they are botanically a fruit and a berry, the USDA classifies them as vegetables. For an interesting read, see how the U.S. Supreme Court also agreed.
Be sure to check out our Tomato FAQ on our website, which may answer your questions regarding growing tomatoes, as well as a list of tomatoes suitable for growing in containers.
Eggplant
The entire month of May up until early June is a good time to get your solanaceous plants in the ground. See our Eggplant FAQ for good information on eggplant. All six varieties of eggplants are ready!
Peppers
We offer three categories of peppers: hot, sweet bell and other sweet peppers. See our Peppers FAQ for general information on peppers.
The following hot pepper plants are ready!
