What’s Available This Week
The following items are available now to order for pickup or delivery on Saturday, March 16. You can stop by on Tuesday from 12 to 3 and Saturday from 9 to 2 for most everything, though placing an online order will ensure it will be available for Saturday pickup or delivery.
Hattie’s Garden has a nice selection of healthy microgreens for you this week. We will also have young Siberian kale and young Swiss chard available only at the Garden, so stop by on Tuesday or Saturday.
Due to customer requests, we now carry a nice selection of fresh organic dried beans and organic raw nuts. The organic beans we carry are adzuki beans, French green lentils, red decorticated lentils, kidney beans, cannellini beans, pinto beans, garbanzo beans, navy pea beans, green split peas and hearty bean soup. The organic raw nuts include walnuts, almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, and roasted (not raw!) unsalted peanuts.
Davidson Exotics brings us freshly grown organic certified mushrooms each week. We carry Cremini, Portabella, Shiitake, Maiitake, Grey Oyster, Lion’s Mane and King Oyster mushrooms to the list. In addition, we carry their mushroom umami and wild mushroom umami seasonings with or without salt, their mushroom salts, dried mushroom wild rice soups, instant organic free trade coffee with a blend of dried mushrooms, and a big selection of mushrooms powders. The mushroom powders are made from 100% fruiting bodies containing absolutely no filler. All products are certified organic.
Enoch Farms has sustainably raised, naturally grown, heritage pork. They provide us with a nice assortment of products, including plenty of specialty sausages, scrapple and porkchops. This week we are adding ham steaks.
In addition supplying us with plenty of full-sized sweet carrots, Dittmar Family Farms has just delivered our next batch of free-range Belted Galloway beef! Dittmar’s grass-fed beef is tender, juicy and flavorful. Often called “Belties,” this exquisite artisan beef is unlike any conventionally raised beef you will find in the supermarket. Known for a much leaner, yet nicely marbled meat, the Belted Galloway averages 46% lower in calories, 70% lower in fat and saturated fat, 57% lower in cholesterol and 19% higher in protein than comparable beef breeds, including Angus. This heritage beef breed dates back over 1,000 years. Get the premium steaks, roasts and other beef cuts while you can, as it is limited in quantity.
AlaskaWild provides us with some of the best wild fish available, directly from a family business based in Clam Gulch, Alaska. We carry whatever is in season and at present have salmon in the following varieties: Coho, Sockeye, Smoked Black-pepper, Smoked Cajun and of course, traditional. We also have both Alaska Cod and Alaska Rockfish back in stock for you. This fish is flash-frozen and gets rave reviews from our customers.
Chapel’s Country Creamery makes some of the nicest cheese we have ever had. Their on-farm cheese-making operation is one of the first of its kind in Maryland. We love their Brie, Cheddars and Bay Blue, as well as their fresh cheese. And we are particularly fond of their alpine style Woodbine cheese, which has the perfect balance of savory and sweet flavors.
Beachdog Farm brings us pasture-raised, non-GMO fed duck eggs and pasture-raised, organic non-GMO fed Sussex chicken eggs. Note the chickens are from Sussex, England, not Sussex County. Although both types of eggs are nutritious, duck eggs tend to contain even higher amounts of some nutrients than chicken eggs, including folate, iron, and vitamin B12. What’s special about Beachdog Farm eggs? Their chickens and ducks are mobile and get fresh ground to scratch and forage on a regular basis, as well as organic scratch grains as an everyday treat.
From Twin Posts, we have wonderful free-range chicken eggs.
From Chrissy Bee’s, a division of Stag Run Farm, we have Dutch clover and wildflower raw honey and raw honeycomb.
Backyard Jams & Jellies has many choices this year. If you are looking for some great jams, chutneys, or jellies for the holiday season, please take a look at the selections we have. For more choices, stop by the Garden on Tuesday or Saturday.
Remember the deadline for placing your March 16 order is Tuesday at 8PM. Otherwise, please stop by the Garden on Tuesday from 12 to 3 and Saturday from 9 to 2 for casual shopping.
