What’s Available through the Online Order System
The following items are available now to order for pickup or delivery on Saturday, July 24.
Hattie’s Garden will again be harvesting beautiful stems of lisianthus this week. This is a gorgeous flower similar to a rose without the thorns. And so elegant — you’d never guess it’s native to American prairies. Lisianthus is also one of the best cut flowers and will last in the vase for 2 to 3 weeks where multiple blossoms will continue to open.
Buy a nice bunch of all lisianthus stems, or a mixed bouquet with a beautiful lisianthus stem included. We also have lovely fresh cut mixed flower bouquets which includes a packet of flower food and is guaranteed to last a week.
In addition, we have both Russian Red Garlic and Phillips Garlic hardneck garlic, Swiss chard, young arugula, small onions, and our basil bunches and other herbs are delightful. We are also very pleased to be offering Freeman’s corn for our pickup/delivery service. This corn is often lauded as the best in the area and is the corn sold at the intersection of Robinsonville and Plantation Rd by the Freeman brothers.
Hattie is anticipating a bumper crops of heirloom tomatoes and mixed cherry tomatoes very soon. We are growing under a new hoop-house structure for protection from the elements and from disease this year. We got a later start than we wanted as we had to get in line for shipping of the new hoop-house. They look to be about a week away from the beginning of harvest and we can’t wait to offer them to you.
In the meantime, we have tomatoes from Dittmar Family Farms. They have a bumper crop of nice red hybrid tomatoes. These are not just any hybrid, but the hybrids I always grow for my customers to grow, including Big Beef, Celebrity and Early Girl. They are excellent slicing tomatoes and we are so glad to have them for you.
They also have spaghetti squash for you to try, and Dittmar also has supplied us with a new batch of whole chickens and chicken livers. This time the chickens average about 3 1/2 lbs, just the right size for two or three people and roast them in just over an hour.
Totem Farms brings us red okra, plenty of herb selections, and a good assortment of microgreens to choose from.
302 Aquaponics to bring you their beautiful produce, herbs and tilapia fish year ’round. This responsibly-sourced fish has a sweet, mild taste and flaky texture that makes a great fit for recipes calling for white fish. It is versatile across many cooking methods, including pan frying, broiling, baking, or braising.
Chapel’s Country Creamery brings us premium ground beef, as well as delicious aged and fresh cheese made on their farm using milk from their grass-fed cows.
King Mushrooms offers a large assortment of fresh mushrooms, including some difficult to find exotic varieties that have amazing health benefits.
AlaskaWild Seafoods family-run business has Pacific Cod, Pacific Rockfish, and Sockeye Salmon fresh frozen directly from the boat and flown to the east coast every week.
Rounding out the line-up are wonderful free-range chicken eggs from Twin Posts and honey from Chrissy’s Bees (part of Stag Run Farm).
