Holiday Season 2019
The holiday season is here! Hattie’s Garden will enjoy family and friends next week, and we hope you have similar plans. Our holiday delivery/pickup service on Saturday December 21 will be the last until the New Year on Saturday, January 4. This week is your chance to stock up on those items you need from our vendors.
The order form is now available online. While the cut-off for placing your order is Wednesday at noon, we encourage you to order as early as possible since some items are sure to sell out. We will send out another reminder on Tuesday.
As we celebrate the holidays, I am struck by how thankful we are at Hattie’s Garden for all of you. With our steadfast and loyal customers, we are able to get through the cold winter months and continue doing what we love during the growing season. We hope you are enjoying your holidays and that we can be some small part in your celebrations and good health.
Holiday Suggestions
We’ve got some nice ideas for buying great local produce and artisan foods, including gift items.
-
Great for those holiday gatherings, we have ten kinds of cheese from Chapel’s Country Creamery’s grass fed cows, including some newly created fresh cheese.
-
And what better way to compliment the cheese than use any of the various hot pepper jellies from Backyard Jams & Jellies? All their items make great stocking stuffers with over 50 flavors of jams, jellies, chutneys, and mustards, including no-sugar added varieties to choose from.
-
Consider some wonderful gourmet food prepared with the freshest local ingredients, without preservatives or chemicals of any kind, as a terrific treat for the holiday, or just for those days when you are too busy getting ready for the holidays to cook from Patty’s Gourmet, Nancy’s Cafe or Jen’s Gourmet Pies. And just a tip — all these foods can be ordered in advance and frozen to keep it fresh until you want to use it.
-
Stock up on free-range chicken eggs from Twin Post or Dittmar, who also offers wonderful chicken. It is tender and delicious, and comes as a whole chicken, as well as many different cuts.
-
Or you can head to the sea and have wonderful salmon, and other fish from Alaskawild. Flash frozen, directly off this family’s little boat, you won’t find a nicer, healthier or fresher piece of fish. And do you know why our meat is always frozen and not fresh during the winter season? This is because the meat is grown by farmers, employs sustainable methods on fresh pastures with constraints of the season of the year and the fresh growth of pasture.
-
Fill your table with the produce and vegetables from Hattie Garden, Chesapeake Organic, Totem Farms and Fresh Harvest which will keep well for at least a week to be enjoyed at your gustatory gatherings.
-
Hattie’s Garden is offering gift certificates which do not expire and can be used at any time during the year for anything we sell during our off-season service, as well as our produce, plants and flowers during the growing season.
Remember the deadline for ordering is Wednesday at noon. Once you complete the order, you will receive a confirmation email listing all the items you ordered, along with an estimated total. You can reply to the order confirmation with any changes you may have, and you may email us with any additions or additional changes up until the Wednesday, noon deadline. A final invoice will be sent to you no later than Friday.
Thanks for patronizing Hattie’s Garden and all of our local hard-working vendors. We wish you the best for the holiday season and look forward to working to serve you well into the winter.
