HLFM Winding Down
The Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) is winding down for the season with the last market in two weeks, on November 17th. We hope you can join us on Saturday morning from 9 to 12 at the Shields Elementary School parking lot for our second to last market, or stop by the Garden today from 2 to 5.
It will be very windy Saturday, but we are a rain or shine event, and will definitely be there. If you can’t make it Saturday, our young carrots are very nice this week, and we have a limited amount of Swiss chard and spinach that probably won’t be available at the market.
What’s Available This Week
The following will be available this week today from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m at Hattie’s Garden, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) located at the Shields Elementary parking lot.
- Young Fall Carrots — Sweet and delicious.
- Loose Leaf Lettuce — Triple-washed and bagged.
- Mesclun — Triple-washed and bagged.
- Young Arugula — Triple-washed and bagged.
- Young Red Russian Kale — A wonderfully sweet kale, certainly young enough to be eaten raw, the sweetness really comes out with a bit of cooking.
- Young Swiss Chard — Limited, come to the Garden Friday.
- Young Spinach — Limited, come to the Garden Friday.
- Flat Italian Parsley — Limited, come to the Garden Friday.
- Farm-Fresh Chicken Eggs — From Twin Post. These eggs are so much better than their commercially-produced, store-bought counterparts.

Hattie’s Garden Off-season Pickup/Delivery Service
Hattie’s Garden Delivery/Pickup Service begins Saturday, December 1. You will receive more information about the service in the next couple of weeks.
We are still working out the details, but we should be representing about a dozen vendors, all of whom participate in the HLFM and many of whom also participate in the Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market. We think you will be just as thrilled as we are with the vendors who are participating this year.
As we move into the delivery/pickup season, we need all our time to get orders ready for Saturday and not hold open hours on Thursdays and Fridays. Instead, we ask that you select the items you would like from the order form you will receive each Sunday afternoon or evening. Deadline for ordering is Wednesday at noon.
As soon as you submit an order using the form, an electronic acknowledgement is sent to your email inbox for your review. Within about 24 hours, you will also receive an electronic invoice serving as the actual confirmation of your order, although final changes are made for estimated items sold by the pound. Changes to your order can be made by contacting Hattie prior to the Wednesday deadline.
There is a small extra charge for Saturday morning delivery. At this time, we are delivering to Rehoboth Beach and Lewes. There is no requirement to have your items delivered, and if you prefer, or if you are outside of our delivery area, you may pickup your order at the house anytime Saturday from 9 to 3, or another day by appointment. Extra produce, eggs, honey, jams, jellies, etc. will be available for sale on Saturday.
We are really excited about doing this again this year and look forward to bringing you great local food! Aside from being extremely fresh, this food is simply not available in the supermarket. This is a great way to make it through the winter in style!
Yours in the Garden & at the Market,
