Hattie’s News & Updates
Our news and updates for this week begins with a schedule change. We regret there will be no delivery / pickup service on March 5 due to a lack of produce ready to harvest.
As we enter Meteorological Spring in the Northern hemisphere on March 1 and the days continue to lengthen, high tunnel and hydroponic vegetables are beginning to make good growth, but it is still cold and things grow slowly at first. We have therefore postponed our next service until Saturday, March 12.
Our new schedule for the month of March is as follows:
- No delivery March 5
- Delivery / Pickup Service: March 12
- No delivery March 19
- Delivery / Pickup Service: March 26
Plant CSA Ordering Deadline: March 1
The last day to order CSA Plant Credits is Tuesday, March 1 and payment is due by March 15 to secure those credits. Remember you will receive 10% off the credits as well as top-notch gardening advice. You may also use the total value of the credit to purchase anything at Hattie’s Garden and we will keep a notebook with us with a record of your Plant CSA credits and purchases. These credits do not expire, but we hope you do use them for plants.
Plant sales will be held at the Garden and we also bring as many plants as possible to the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) and at a new farmers market we plan to attend, held at Garden Shack Farm.
But, the best selection is always here at the garden and plant sales will be advertised through the blog and held various days and times to accommodate as many people as possible. You may also make separate arrangements to come and get plants if our plant sale time-frame does not work for you.
Garden Shack Farm Farmers Market
Located just a little over a mile south of Hattie’s Garden on Beaver Dam Rd., Garden Shack Farm is launching a new farmers market this year.
We are excited to add this new farmers market into our schedule on Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. You may be familiar with many of the vendors who are planning to join this new market. We hope you will visit us there and source much more of your household’s healthy food from local farmers.
Yours, planning the spring garden,
