Happy Holidays 2021
Happy Holidays from everyone here at Hattie’s Garden.
Hattie’s Garden will enjoy family and friends next week, and will be taking the week off from our delivery/pickup service. We will return with an order form ready on Sunday, December 26 at 3 PM. for the New Year’s Day service on Saturday, January 1.
As we celebrate the holidays, I am struck by how thankful we are at Hattie’s Garden for all of you. With our steadfast and loyal customers, we have been able to get through some challenging times, and we will be able to get through the cold winter months ahead. And we will continue doing what we love during the growing season. We hope you are enjoying your holidays and that we can be some small part in your celebrations and good health.
Your business and support to both Hattie’s Garden, and other local producers is very important for the creation of a local sustainable foodshed on Delmarva. Eating locally grown foods has many benefits for the consumer, the grower, the community and the environment. We can and will reach more and more people with local food, and with important information about nutrition, and the potentials and necessities of sustainability.
The winter solstice occurs this Tuesday at 10:58 AM, and after that it’s all uphill. Yes, it’s a late sunrise and a short day. Yes, it’s an early sunset with a long night.
But a seasonal shift slowly begins as days gradually lengthen and nights get shorter. The sun will steadily climb toward the long, warm days of summer.
Have a safe and happy holiday time.
Yours in the garden, looking forward to the solstice,
