Delivery / Pickup for Feb. 28
Hattie’s Garden is happy to resume the delivery / pickup service for Saturday, February 28.
It is amazing to be able to harvest vegetables from greenhouses and high tunnels in the middle of a very cold winter.
Hattie’s Garden is harvesting Hakurei Turnips from our high tunnel with very nice greens. We have nursed them along by adding an extra layer of protection inside the structure and the ground has never frozen, helping the turnips to survive very nicely.
Chesapeake Organic is also pulling some items from their greenhouses. Greenbranch hopes to be harvesting carrots and we include them at this time with great optimism in addition to their good solid winter squash: Kabocha and striped Acorn squash!
Of course, don’t forget your eggs, meat, your honey, jelly and jam, baked goods and gourmet food items. There is much to choose from our wonderful vendors: Chapel’s Country Creamery, Pure Harvest Farm, Twin Post Farm, Patty’s Homemade Gourmet Food, Old World Breads, Baues’ Busy Bees and Backyard Jams & Jellies.
Unfortunately, Chinky Oyster Company will be unable to harvest oysters. You may have seen the ice cover we now have surrounding Delmarva and they cannot get to their oyster beds.
We will not do a delivery/pickup service for Saturday, March 7, so please remember to get what you would like this week. Our next service is planned for Saturday, March 14.
Thank you for your patience and your business with Hattie’s Garden and our vendors this winter.
As a reminder, please place your order as soon as possible. Many of the few produce items available do sell out quickly this time of year.
Yours in the high tunnel and potting shed,
