CSA Sign-Up Extended
Hattie’s Garden is extending the sign-up for the Plant, Produce and Cut Flower CSA. You now have until March 15 to sign-up for your 10% discount for any items you purchase from Hattie’s Garden by paying it forward.
We use the funds for much needed spring supplies. Your credits do not expire and you can redeem throughout our growing season. We hope you can take advantage of this program and sign-up for the CSA.
Payment is appreciated at your earliest convenience and secures your credits. Full information on this program is on our website.
Many thanks to all of you who have decided to participate in the CSA program. Our supplies are beginning to arrive and we are already busy at work in our “potting shed”. You make much of what we do possible through your support.
No Delivery/Pickup Service This Week
Remember, there will be no pickup/delivery service for Saturday, March 7. We will resume service for March 14. You will get a new order form for great food on Sunday, March 8. Thanks for your understanding.
Meteorological Spring
Meteorological spring began today, March 1, in the Northern hemisphere. Meteorologists break the seasons down into groupings of three months based on the annual temperature cycle as well as our calendar.
Meteorological spring runs from March 1 to May 31 every year, whereas the vernal equinox (astronomical spring) occurs during the third week of March. This year it’s on March 19, the earliest in 124 years.
Spring is seen as a time of growth, renewal, of new life (both plant and animal) being born.
What does that mean for us? Well, some days can be quite warm and lovely (Tuesday is forecast for the upper 60s), and others can still be blustery with even snow in the forecast. But we have already seen signs of growth and renewal of new life as the crocuses and other bulbs are popping out, as well as the birds chirping in the morning and early evening.
Thank you for your support throughout the year.
