Celebrating Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is coming up this week and what a great way to celebrate, by surprising your other half with a beautiful dinner for two for next Saturday night from Patty’s Homemade Gourmet Food? Then top off with a Pleasure Cordial prepared by Plant Wisdom Within for a lovely weekend.
Patty has put together an all-inclusive surf and turf dinner for two, complete with lovely soup, salad, sides and dessert. The meal comes with instructions and can quickly be prepared for a lovely meal without leaving your home.
Valentine’s Day didn’t start out as the exclusive domain of lovers. It was originally a Christian holiday created to remember the life and martyrdom of St. Valentine, who was arrested and eventually killed for going against the Roman Empire to perform weddings and minister to Christians.
And even though many think of Valentine’s Day as a holiday for couples, it’s also a day to celebrate the many loves and friendships in our lives. It’s the perfect opportunity to say “thank you” to our family and friends and show our appreciation to those who make our lives a little easier.

Gardening Classes
Hattie’s Garden will be offering vegetable and flower garden classes in March. Each class consists of two sessions. More details with dates will come under separate cover. The class stresses organic principles and provides hand-on instruction specific to each person’s specific garden plans.
Individual garden plans will be developed in the class and class sizes will be kept small at 6-8 students. The hands-on portion of the class introduces gardening techniques and small tools, soil amendment, soil and bed preparation, mulching, transplant growing, and more. All attendees are welcome to follow up with Hattie throughout the growing season with any questions.
You can grow much of your own food in a very small area. Container gardeners also encouraged to attend.
For more general information, please see our Gardening Class page.
Yours in the Garden,
