Blooming Flowers
Hattie’s Garden will be open this Thursday and Friday from 10 to 5.
Come by this week to see the start of all of our beautiful blooming flowers here at Hattie’s Garden. The beautiful larkspur, bachelor buttons and bell flowers are putting on their show and you can also witness the debut of our amazing snapdragons, bold & beautiful zinnias and cosmos.
Each of our flower cuttings, which will last you at least a full week, are pretty enough to stand alone in a vase. However, we do assemble, in advance, some lovely individually-wrapped bouquets. And of course, you may also request a custom made bouquet, using your choice of flowers, made on the spot. Each bouquet comes with a packet of flower food.
We will be open at the Garden on Thursday and Friday from 10 to 5, and you can find us at the Garden, we will be at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) on Saturday from 8 to 12 located on the grounds of the George H.P. Smith Park at the corner of Dupont and Johnson Avenues from 8 to 12. If these times / dates do not work for you, please email Hattie to make arrangements for an appointment. We can accommodate most requests.
Plants
There is still plenty of time to get a garden planted or to add some things to your existing garden. We have an entire new planting of pepper plants and tomato plants which includes the incredible, luscious over-the-top Honeybunch Grape.
We just added Lemon Cucumbers because of popular demand. We also have plenty of marigolds and zinnias in all sizes and colors. There is a nice new batch of Italian Large Leaf Basil and we continue to offer a wide selection of herbs.
Produce
For produce this week, we have triple-washed bags of lettuce, mesclun and arugula — all very nice at this time of year. This week we will be open Thursday and Friday from 10 to 5 and, of course, we will attend the Historic Lewes Farmers Market on Saturday from 8 to 12.
HLFM Wednesday Market
Next week, Wednesday, June 7, from 8 to 11 am, we be one of the vendors at the HLFM Wednesday Market located at Kings Highway across from Crooked Hammock Brewery.
This second Wednesday market will run throughout the “high-season” until early September and will supplement the busy Saturday market. For those of you who need extra items mid-week, or who enjoy the convenience of a different location on a day with somewhat less traffic, the Crooked Hammock Brewery location should fit the bill. Parking is close by and although a smaller market, the vendors represent a good cross-section of produce and other food items, all locally grown and produced.
Yours in the Garden,
