April 27 Pickup/Delivery Service
The final pickup/delivery service for the season is this Saturday, April 27. It has been our pleasure to bring you fresh and wholesome food throughout the off-season. We will continue to be open at the Garden, located at 31341 Kendale Rd in Lewes for casual shopping during the week for the entire growing season with expanded hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 to 3.
This weekend, April 27 and 28, we will be open Saturday from 9 to 2 and Sunday from 10 to 2. This will be a good time to pick up your plants for your home gardens.
Beginning Saturday May 4, you can find us at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) located at the George H.P. Smith Park from 8 to 12.
The deadline for placing your April 27 pickup/delivery order is Tuesday at 8PM.
Plants, Plants, Plants
Nearly all of our plants will be ready for you this week. We have tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, squash, cucumbers, swiss chard, 8 kinds of lettuce heads, lettuce mix, spinach, arugula, all kinds of herbs, zinnias, marigolds, nasturtiums and more. Hattie’s Organic Beans & Nuts
We carry a nice selection of fresh organic dried beans and organic raw nuts. The organic beans we carry are adzuki beans, French green lentils, red decorticated lentils, kidney beans, cannellini beans, pinto beans, garbanzo beans, navy pea beans, green split peas and hearty bean soup. The organic raw nuts include walnuts, almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, and roasted (not raw!) unsalted peanuts.
Enoch Farms has sustainably raised, naturally grown, heritage pork. They provide us with a nice assortment of products, including plenty of specialty sausages, scrapple and porkchops.
Dittmar Family Farms supplies us with plenty of full-sized sweet carrots and their free-range Belted Galloway beef! Dittmar’s grass-fed beef is tender, juicy and flavorful. Often called “Belties,” this exquisite artisan beef is unlike any conventionally raised beef you will find in the supermarket. Known for a much leaner, yet nicely marbled meat, the Belted Galloway averages 46% lower in calories, 70% lower in fat and saturated fat, 57% lower in cholesterol and 19% higher in protein than comparable beef breeds, including Angus. This heritage beef breed dates back over 1,000 years. Get the premium steaks, roasts and other beef cuts while you can, as it is limited in quantity.
AlaskaWild provides us with some of the best wild fish available, directly from a family business based in Clam Gulch, Alaska. We carry whatever is in season and at present have salmon in the following varieties: Coho, Sockeye, Smoked Cajun and of course, traditional. We also have both Alaska Cod and Alaska Rockfish back in stock for you. This fish is flash-frozen and gets rave reviews from our customers.
Davidson Exotics brings us freshly grown organic certified mushrooms each week. We carry Cremini, Portabella, Shiitake, Maiitake, Grey Oyster, Lion’s Mane and King Oyster mushrooms to the list. In addition, we carry their mushroom umami and wild mushroom umami seasonings with or without salt, their mushroom salts, dried mushroom wild rice soups, instant organic free trade coffee with a blend of dried mushrooms, and a big selection of mushrooms powders. The mushroom powders are made from 100% fruiting bodies containing absolutely no filler. All products are certified organic.
Beachdog Farm has pasture-raised, organic non-GMO fed Sussex chicken eggs available, as well as their pasture-raised, non-GMO fed duck eggs. Duck eggs tend to contain even higher amounts of some nutrients than chicken eggs, including folate, iron, and vitamin B12.
From Twin Posts, we have wonderful free-range chicken eggs.
Chapel’s Country Creamery brings us incredible homemade artisan cheese, handcrafted using milk that comes directly from their pastured, grass-fed dairy cows. We carry their Chapel Cheddar, Otterly Pale Cheddar, Bay Blue, Brie, Woodbine, Smooth Sails, Queso Fresco and Paneer.
From Chrissy Bee’s, a division of Stag Run Farm, we have Dutch clover and wildflower raw honey and raw honeycomb.
